‘M.Div, M.A, CSAT
Michael Browning is being processed for recognition as a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). He has two Master’s degrees, one in Divinity (Pastoral Theology) and one in Arts (Counselling and Spirituality). He has degrees from Carleton University, the Toronto School of Theology, the University of Toronto, the University of Ottawa and Saint Paul University.
Michael has received specialized training in individual, couple and group therapy. One of only two certified therapists in Ottawa, he is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), which he earned with the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professional (IITAP).
After seven years of providing pastoral counselling and related services Michael began more specialized studies to provide psychotherapy services. He had worked as an addiction counsellor at an Ottawa not-for-profit addiction and family outpatient program for three years (www.rideauwood.org). Michael has been in his own counselling and psychotherapy private practice since June 2011.
After experiencing, both personally and professionally, the struggles of addiction and its effects on loved ones, Michael was inspired to provide a specialized care for people who are struggling with their own, or a loved one’s, sexual addiction. There was, until now, no such directed treatment for sex addiction in the National Capital Region.
Michael has just rebranded his practice by involving other therapists into a general practice with specialty in sex addiction. The new enterprise, called The Whitestone Clinic, comprises the combined skills sets of several therapists into a broad range of therapies but a common focus on addictions.
Michael is supervised by Dr. Martin Rovers, Registered Psychologist (www.marriagetherapistsottawa.ca). Receipts issued are recognized by most Insurance providers.
Michael looks forward to helping you and can be reached by phone or email.
