MARCH TO FREEDOM

30-Day Catholic Men’s Residential Intensive

Freedom Begins with Truth.
Healing Begins with Grace.

Many Catholic men carry sexual secrets and compulsive behaviors they can’t shake. You hide them under shame and silence. You’ve tried to manage it alone.

Maybe you call it porn addiction. Maybe sex addiction. Maybe you don’t have a name for it. We call it Dysphilia—a broken relationship with desire and intimacy.

Your hidden life may have been discovered. Or your conscience won’t let you rest. Either way, you know something has to change.

The Whitestone Clinic offers a 30-day immersive retreat that addresses the suffering at its root. We combine faith, psychotherapy, and spiritual renewal to help you heal.

This is your path forward.

If dysphilia has disrupted your marriage, this could be the first step toward rebuilding trust, restoring connection, and setting things right!

A Unique Integration of Faith and Clinical Care

Led by Michael A. Browning, RP, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and founder of The Whitestone Clinic, March to Freedom is an intensive, structured experience designed for Catholic men seeking deep, sustained transformation.

You’ll live for 30 days in residence at the Anishinabe Spiritual Retreat Centre—a serene Northern Ontario sanctuary overlooking the waters of Anderson Lake. Surrounded by prayer, nature, and professional guidance, you will be invited to dismantle the patterns of Dysphilia and rebuild a life aligned with truth, humility, and integrity.

What is Dysphilia?

Dysphilia
dɪs-ˈfɪl-i-ə (noun)

Definition (clinical):
A maladaptive pattern of relating to self and others marked by distorted, deficient, or dysfunctional expressions of love, affection, or intimacy. Dysphilia is characterized by:

  • Negative or conflicted self-concept that impairs the ability to receive or give love.
  • Intimacy avoidance, emotional detachment, or overidealization of relationships.
  • Reliance on secretive, compulsive, or unfaithful sexual behaviors (e.g., pornography use, sex addiction, extradyadic sexual activity) to regulate self-esteem or cope with relational distress.
  • Reinforcement cycles where shame and self-condemnation further perpetuate the dysfunctional patterns.

Clinical Relevance:
Dysphilia is not an established diagnostic category in ICD-10 or ICD-11, but the construct overlaps with and may contribute to conditions including:

  • F52.7 (ICD-10): Sexual aversion and lack of sexual enjoyment.
  • 6D30 (ICD-11): Compulsive sexual behavior disorder.
  • F60.3 (ICD-10) / 6D10 (ICD-11): Emotionally unstable (borderline) personality disorder, where unstable self-image and difficulties in intimate relationships are present.
  • Z63.5 (ICD-10/11): Disruption of family by separation and divorce, when relational dysfunction plays a central role.

Differentiation:
Unlike paraphilic disorders (ICD-11: 6D32–6D36), dysphilia does not necessarily involve atypical sexual interests; rather, it reflects a core disturbance in the capacity for healthy love of self and others, which may underlie or exacerbate sexual and relational disorders.

Etymology: From Greek dys- “bad, ill, difficult” + philia “love, affection.” Coined by Michael A. Browning, RP (2025).

Why You Need More Than Weekly Therapy

You’ve tried outpatient counseling. You white-knuckle it for a few weeks. Then you fall again.

Sexual compulsivity doesn’t respond to willpower. You need separation from your triggers, your routines, and the secrecy that feeds the cycle.

Our intensive program removes you from your daily life so you can finally break free.

What happens in 30 days:

You work with therapists every day. You join other men who understand your struggle. You practice faith-based recovery that actually works.

You build accountability that feels safe, not shameful. You create a new foundation for your marriage, your kids, and your walk with God.

Healing requires focus. Structure. And surrender.

This is where that happens.

Wives Deserve Healing Too

The pain of betrayal runs deep. While you attend the 30-day retreat, your wife will be invited to participate in a simultaneous online support group for women experiencing Partner Betrayal Trauma.

Led by trained female therapists from The Whitestone Clinic, this parallel group offers understanding, stabilization, and a pathway for her to reclaim her own peace—independent of your progress.
